The flash fiction challenge will be hosted on Ao3 every two weeks by the mod team of Scintilla.Hello, lovelies! Welcome to Scintilla, a two-week-long flash fiction challenge for Army ficdom. This is a writing challenge hosted by the Scintilla Mod Team.Scintilla is inspired by various flash fiction challenges hosted on Ao3 - Tiny Sparks (EXO flash fiction).What is this Scintilla (Fest)?Scintilla is a two-week writing challenge for the group BTS. Our writing period will be of 14 days along with no minimum word count and a maximum word count of 1000 (1k) words.

Rules

❥ rulesGuidelines and Rules of the challenge :♡ We’re an OT7 writing community, which means we don’t allow any work that includes hate towards any member. We allow both monogamous and polyamorous relationships. We allow gender-bending but we don’t allow crossover with other boy groups or girl groups and we don’t allow BTS member x OCs.♡ There is no minimum word count, but the maximum word count will be 1000 words.♡ The writing period will be two weeks, which is 14 days. The schedule for the challenge will be posted on Twitter at the start of the month.♡ Every month, a theme will be provided for the writers to write about. The writers are free to interpret the theme in any way they like. Some themes will be selected by the Mods and some will be chosen with the help of a poll.♡ There may be a chosen character for specific rounds based on the member’s birthday or comeback, which will be announced on twitter.♡ This challenge will be hosted on Ao3 under a collection of specific challenges. The writers are suggested to have an Ao3 account.♡ The deadline of the round will be 14 days after the sign-ups open. The deadline will be followed by fic posting. After we are done with all the fic postings there will be a ‘guess who?’ period and it will finally be followed by the author reveals.♡ As writers will be joining the challenge anonymously, they are asked to not reveal themselves while the challenge is still ongoing.♡ The submitted work must be a new work! We don’t allow work that has already been posted before as a stand-alone or as part of a series. If you want to continue the story after you’ve posted it to the collection, then you're allowed to do it as a series after the author reveals.♡ No plagiarism. If Mods find out you have copied someone else’s work, you’ll be banned from the challenge forever and there is no going back!

If the Mods find the fics without proper tags, they’ll give you two options - (1) Make appropriate changes, or (2) Delete your work.

Questions

Onto a few questions which the Mods think need to be answered before we move on with the challenge.♡ How to join the Scintilla Flash Fiction Challenge?The theme for the next round will be announced three days prior to the commencement of the round. At the start of the month, a google form will be posted. Writers with interest in participating have to fill out that form to join that two-week’s challenge.♡ What are the steps writers have to take after filling out the form?The Mods will send the writer a confirmation email about their participation, which they have to reply to within 48 hours (please keep an eye on your inbox after you’ve signed up).If the writer fails to reply within 48 hours, the Mods will send a few reminders on both mail and twitter DMs (make sure to keep your DMs open) before giving a warning to reply within the deadline. If the writer still doesn’t reply within the deadline, the Mods will drop them from the participants list.Please note that this challenge works from both ends - writers as well as the Mods. We both have our responsibilities, so let’s be cooperative with each other and run the challenge peacefully.♡ Is it mandatory to join every theme?No, there is no need to join all the monthly challenges. Let’s say a writer has joined for the first challenge, but the second challenge isn’t their cup of tea or they are busy, then they can skip it. If said writer wants to join the third challenge, they’re welcome to do so.♡ What if a writer is done with their fic before the deadline?Then you can post your fic to our Ao3 collection right away. (The link to the collection will be included in the confirmation mail.)♡ What if writers want to submit more than one fic?Writers are allowed to post as many fics they can write per round but you should tell the mods the number of fics you will be writing when you send your participation confirmation mail.
♡ What if I need an extension to finish the fic(s)?Writers are allowed an extension of 3 days if needed. However, if the writer fails to submit the fic by then, the Mods will drop them out from the round.♡ How long will the posting period be?The posting period will depend on the number of fics submitted in the collection. The minimum fic posting period will be 3 days and the maximum will be 10 days.♡ What if a writer wants to drop out of the challenge?The writer has to inform the Mods immediately through mail or Twitter DMs. If the writer doesn’t inform us and keep us hanging until the reveals, they will receive a warning when they join the next round. If they repeat their actions, they will be permanently banned from the challenge. The most important thing to remember is: it’s okay to drop out! Never hesitate to inform us if you want to drop out, we won’t ask the reason!♡ Are you gonna provide writers with beta-readers?Beta reader won’t be provided by the fest, but the writers can find their own beta-readers outside the fest.

Scintilla is a two week flash fiction challenge held every month.
Scintilla has hosted 6 rounds from December 2021 to May 2022.
Over the past 6 months, 19 writers have been a part of the challenges who contributed to the 80 fics posted. Almost 69,000 words have been written.In December 2021, the first challenge was hosted. It was a warm-up round for the participants.
In the last six rounds, two rounds have been selected by the Mods (Feliz and Daffodil), two rounds were special rounds for the members' birthdays (Hope and Luster) and two rounds were chosen through poll (Retrouvailles and Mad At Disney).Shortest fic written for the challenge is 'Snowflakes & Sweaterpaws' by 00EVY00 (on ao3) for the Round Three: Luster which only consists of 410 words.
The most number of fics submitted among all the writers that have participated is by becharlatan (on ao3), written total of 12 fics across the 3 rounds they participated in.
Four writers - botfly, mysticrose27, 00EVY00, slytherpuffphoenix (on ao3), have participated in all the six rounds hosted.This fest has been going for the last six months with the combined efforts of all the four Mods (A, R, Q and J).
